Dabur India Empowers Women with All-Women Production Team

Dabur India, a popular consumer goods company, has set up an all-women production line at its big plant near Indore. Twenty women are working on producing Vatika hair oils, and this initiative is part of Dabur’s effort to create a more diverse workforce and support women’s empowerment in manufacturing.

The company plans to expand this project by adding 30 more women to its factory team. According to Dabur, this move reflects their commitment to equal job opportunities and aims to transform the traditionally male-dominated manufacturing sector.

Biplab Baksi, the executive director of HR at Dabur, stated, “Setting up an all-woman production line is one step forward in this direction and seeks to not only transform a traditionally male-dominated manufacturing sector but enhance the lives of local women and the community in the process.”

The new production line is part of Dabur’s greenfield manufacturing unit near Indore, designed to meet the increasing demand for natural personal care products, especially hair oils. The unit has the capacity to produce 2.5 million packs per year, operating in three shifts.

Rahul Awasthi, the global head of operations, emphasized the significance of this initiative for gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace. He highlighted that the unit exclusively produces hair care products designed and produced by women for women, promoting a strong connection between the brand and its female consumers.

This unique approach has resulted in a 10% increase in the factory’s overall productivity. The all-women workforce has proven to be more productive, cohesive, efficient, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining quality standards.
