Tata Motors Set to Unveil Budget-Friendly Tata Punch EV, Aiming to Redefine India’s Electric SUV Market

Tata Motors is set to make waves in the electric vehicle (EV) market with the anticipated launch of its latest offering, the Tata Punch EV, under the Tata.ev division. While an official release date has not been confirmed by the automaker, sources suggest that the unveiling is expected to take place in the final week of January 2024.

The Tata Punch EV is generating considerable excitement as it aims to compete with the Citroen eC3, positioning itself as potentially India’s most affordable fully electric SUV. For context, the Citroen eC3 is currently priced between Rs 11.61 lakh and Rs 12.79 lakh (ex-showroom).

Although specific details about the Tata Punch EV’s specifications are yet to be officially disclosed, insiders speculate that it may feature a larger battery pack compared to the 24kWh unit seen in the Tiago EV and Tigor EV models. The EV is anticipated to offer an ARAI-certified range of approximately 350km, complemented by fast-charging capabilities, making it a significant player in the electric vehicle segment.

Distinguishing itself from its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart, the Tata Punch EV is expected to showcase several enhancements. Enthusiasts can look forward to features such as LED headlights, all-wheel disc brakes, an expanded touchscreen infotainment system featuring the Arcade.ev app suite, and a distinctive two-spoke steering wheel illuminated with the Tata Motors logo – a feature already present in the new Nexon and Nexon EV models.

As anticipation builds for the Tata Punch EV’s release, industry experts are keen to see how it will shape up against existing competitors and contribute to the growing popularity of electric vehicles in India.
