SUN Mobility announced a partnership with IndianOil to create a network of battery swapping stations by 2030. The goal is to establish 10,000 stations in over 40 cities within the next three years, making it easier for electric vehicles (EVs) to adopt “Battery as a Service” (BaaS). This service will benefit two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and small four-wheelers.
The collaboration will leverage IndianOil’s 37,000 fuel stations and SUN Mobility’s battery swapping technology, making EV battery swaps as easy as refueling at a gas station. This will simplify the EV experience by addressing concerns about battery cost, maintenance, replacement, and charging time.
Currently, SUN Mobility supports over 25,000 electric vehicles in 20 cities with more than 630 stations and 50,000+ smart batteries. These batteries perform over a million swaps per month for various two and three-wheeler customers.
Chetan Maini, Co-Founder and Chairman of SUN Mobility, said, “We have created the world’s leading open platform for battery swapping that supports various electric vehicle types and are expanding globally with leading energy companies.”
