Petrol and Diesel Prices to Decrease by ₹2/litre from March 15

Starting from Friday, March 15, petrol and diesel prices in India will be lowered by ₹2 per litre, as announced by the Petroleum Ministry on Thursday. This decision comes after oil marketing companies (OMCs) decided to revise the prices nationwide.

The Ministry made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter), stating that the new prices would take effect from 6:00 AM on March 15, 2024.

In the national capital, Delhi, the price of petrol will decrease to ₹94.72 per litre from the previous ₹96.72 per litre. Similarly, in Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai, the new prices will be ₹104.21, ₹103.94, and ₹100.75 per litre, respectively.

As for diesel, its price in Delhi will be reduced to ₹87.62 per litre. In Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai, diesel will cost ₹92.15, ₹90.76, and ₹92.34 per litre, respectively.

The Ministry highlighted that this price reduction will benefit consumers by boosting spending and lowering operating costs, especially for the millions of vehicles, including heavy goods vehicles, cars, and two-wheelers, that run on petrol and diesel.
