Ritesh Agarwal, the founder and CEO of OYO, a prominent travel-tech platform, has revealed plans to establish five healthcare centers in Odisha within the next year.
Operated by the health-tech startup ‘Last Mile Care,’ which currently manages 11 health centers across India, these upcoming centers aim to enhance accessibility to quality medical services.
Agarwal emphasized the importance of collaboration between healthcare providers, tech innovators, policymakers, and communities, stating, “By fostering an environment conducive to innovation and investing in initiatives such as these, we are doing our bit to ensure that quality medical services become accessible to everyone.”
According to an official release from the company, the initial three months will offer free doctor consultations, followed by discounted treatment and medicine for the first six months. However, clarity is lacking regarding the nature of treatments or medicines after this initial period.
The company has not disclosed the budget allocation for the establishment of these healthcare centers.
The healthcare facilities will include a team of specialized doctors in gynaecology, eye diseases, and heart diseases, along with a pharmacy to provide comprehensive healthcare solutions. Services offered encompass preventive care, diagnostic services, primary healthcare, treatment for minor illnesses, professional consultations, referral services, affordable medications, and digital health record facilities.
The inaugural healthcare center, named the Ramesh and Bela Agarwal Healthcare Center, was inaugurated by Jagannath Saraka, the state minister for SC & ST Development, Minorities and Backward Class Welfare and Law. The center pays tribute to Ritesh Agarwal’s parents, the late Ramesh Agarwal and Bela Agarwal.
The strategic placement of these centers aims to bridge the gap between healthcare services and marginalized populations, covering regions with limited access to healthcare facilities.
