The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) has taken action against 18 over-the-top (OTT) platforms for sharing inappropriate and explicit content. According to I&B Minister Anurag Singh Thakur, these platforms have been blocked for hosting obscene, vulgar, and pornographic material.
As part of this action, the ministry has disabled access to 19 websites, 10 apps (7 on Google Play Store, 3 on Apple App Store), and 57 social media accounts associated with these platforms in India.
The decision to block these platforms was made under the Information Technology Act, 2000, in collaboration with other ministries and experts from media, entertainment, women’s rights, and child rights domains.
The list of banned OTT platforms includes Dreams Films, Voovi, Yessma, Uncut Adda, Tri Flicks, X Prime, Neon X VIP, Besharams, Hunters, Rabbit, Xtramood, Nuefliks, MoodX, Mojflix, Hot Shots VIP, Fugi, Chikooflix, and Prime Play.
The content hosted by these platforms was found to be in violation of several laws, including Sections 67 and 67A of the IT Act, Section 292 of the IPC, and Section 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.
Furthermore, one of these OTT apps had over 10 million downloads, while two others had over 5 million downloads on the Google Play Store. Additionally, the social media accounts associated with these platforms had a combined following of over 3.2 million users.
I am sure this post has touched all the internet users, its really really fastidious paragraph on building up new website.
