Flight operations from Dehradun to Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Amritsar were inaugurated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at Jolly Grant Airport on Wednesday. The inaugural event included a ceremonial lamp lighting and cake-cutting by CM Dhami.
Expressing the state’s commitment to providing convenient transportation within Uttarakhand, CM Dhami stated, “We are continuously making efforts to simplify travel for the people within the entire state of Uttarakhand. People from across the country are now traveling to different destinations within the state.”
CM Dhami flagged off air services from Jolly Grant Airport to Shri Ayodhya Dham, Amritsar, Pantnagar, and Varanasi. He distributed boarding passes to passengers and wished them a pleasant journey. Highlighting the strengthened air connectivity in Uttarakhand, he noted that these services would not only enhance transportation convenience but also give a new direction and momentum to tourism in the state.
Referring to previous initiatives, CM Dhami mentioned the commencement of air connectivity between Dehradun and Pithoragarh, along with heli services from Haldwani to Champawat, Munsiyari, and Pithoragarh. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for their support.
During the interaction with passengers heading to Ayodhya, CM Dhami extended his best wishes for a safe journey. The Chief Minister had been advocating for air services to these destinations, and he personally requested Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia before the Pran Pratishtah ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya.
Dehradun Airport, a medium-sized domestic airport, has initiated flights to these religious and tourist destinations. Ayodhya recently inaugurated its first airport, Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, on December 30, 2023, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
