Ashok Leyland Secures Order for 1,282 Buses from Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation

Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of the Hinduja Group, has announced that it has successfully secured a significant order from the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) to supply a total of 1,282 buses. This order marks one of the largest orders received by a single original equipment manufacturer (OEM) from a state transport undertaking.

According to the terms of the contract, Ashok Leyland will supply 55-seater fully assembled BSVI diesel buses to GSRTC in a phased manner. These buses are designed to meet the stringent BSVI emission norms, showcasing the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

Sanjeev Kumar, President of Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles at Ashok Leyland, expressed his excitement regarding the new order from GSRTC. He noted that the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation has a long-standing partnership with Ashok Leyland, with over 2,600 BSVI buses already operating successfully in their fleet. Kumar also highlighted that this latest order significantly bolsters the company’s order book from State Transport Undertakings, bringing the total to an impressive count of over 4,000 buses. He emphasized the enduring and fruitful relationship with GSRTC and the company’s dedication to delivering high-performance vehicles.

Shenu Agarwal, Managing Director and CEO of Ashok Leyland, echoed these sentiments, expressing their pleasure in securing one of the largest OEM-built fully assembled bus orders from GSRTC. Agarwal emphasized that Ashok Leyland’s buses are renowned for their durability, robustness, and cutting-edge technology, making the company the preferred choice in the bus segment.
