The Indian stock markets are set to remain closed on Tuesday, November 14, in observance of Diwali Balipratipada. According to the stock market holidays list for 2023, as provided by the exchanges, all trading activities, including the Equity segment, Equity Derivative Segment, and SLB Segment, will be suspended for the day. Additionally, trading in the Currency Derivatives Segment and Interest Rate Derivatives segment will also be halted.
In the commodity segment, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will experience a closure in the first half of the day, resuming trading in the second half at approximately 5 p.m. during the evening session.
This marks the first market holiday for the month of November, with another scheduled on November 27 for Gurunanak Jayanti. Looking ahead to December, the markets will be closed on the 25th in celebration of Christmas.
During the special one-hour Muhurat trading session on Sunday, November 12, which marked the commencement of the Hindu Samvat year 2080, both Indian benchmark indices closed in the green. The Nifty 50 recorded a gain of 100 points, or 0.52%, closing at 19,525.55, while the Sensex concluded at 65,259.45, up 355 points, or 0.55%.
On Muhurat Trading 2023, the overall market capitalization of BSE-listed firms increased to nearly ₹322.5 lakh crore from the previous session’s ₹320.3 lakh crore, contributing to investors’ wealth by approximately ₹2.2 lakh crore.
Despite the positive momentum during Muhurat Trading, indices faced a downturn in the subsequent session on Monday, November 13. The Nifty closed with a cut of 0.42% at 19,443, and the S&P BSE Sensex lost 0.50%, settling at 64,933.
