Vivo Mobile India received a partial occupancy certificate for 62 acres of land in Noida’s Sector 24A from the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Tuesday, according to a report by TOI. This is a significant milestone for the authority, officials said. The total built-up area of the project is 1.6 lakh square kilometers.
The company applied for the certificate in April, and the authorities conducted an inspection in June.
Vivo was allotted 169 acres of land in November 2018 to set up assembly and Surface Mount Technology (SMT) lines. So far, it has received 156 acres, with the remaining land yet to be handed over. The company received a 25 percent subsidy and a full waiver of stamp duty when the land was allotted.
The project will be completed in two phases. In the first phase, Vivo plans to produce 60 million smartphones annually and create 22,000 jobs. After both phases are complete, the company will produce 120 million smartphones every year and create an additional 16,000 jobs. Vivo has planned an investment of Rs 6,690 crore for both phases.
YEIDA aims to launch 200 companies in the township by December this year. According to the authority’s data, layout plans for 91 companies have been approved so far, and eight of them have already started production. Some of these companies include Avery Dennison, Surya Global Flexi Films, and Bikanerwala.
Out of the 200 companies, 136 will be located in Toy Park and 81 in Apparel Park. Construction work has already begun for a few companies, and the industries are expected to create around 2 lakh jobs in the city.
