Vedanta Aluminium has announced the appointment of Fabio Roberto Martins as the new CEO of its billets division. In his new role, Martins will be responsible for leading the aluminium billets product group, shaping the company’s strategy, managing commercial activities, and overseeing operations.
This move aligns with Vedanta Aluminium’s plans to increase its billet production capacity to 1.2 million tonnes per year.
Before joining Vedanta, Martins held the position of Director of Operations at Alcoa, where he gained extensive experience in the aluminium industry.
“We are already India’s largest producer and exporter of billets. Fabio’s global expertise and proven success in the aluminium sector will greatly benefit our ongoing efforts to innovate and excel in the billets market,” said John Slaven, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium.
Aluminium billets are solid, cylindrical blocks produced through casting, and they serve as raw material for various manufacturing processes. The billets product group is strategically important for Vedanta Aluminium, with a casting capacity of 580,000 tonnes per year, making the company the largest producer and exporter of high-quality aluminium billets in India.
Vedanta Aluminium, a subsidiary of Vedanta Limited, is India’s leading aluminium producer, accounting for more than half of the country’s aluminium production, with 2.37 million tonnes produced in FY2024.
