VA Tech WABAG Ltd, a water treatment company, has won a ₹1,000 crore order from Indosol Solar Pvt Ltd to build a seawater desalination plant. This project marks WABAG’s entry into the solar photovoltaic sector.
The contract involves engineering, procurement, design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a desalination plant capable of producing 100 million liters of water per day at Indosol Solar’s manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh. The project is expected to take 38 months to complete, followed by a 15-year operation and maintenance contract.
Saravanan Krishnan, head of desalination at VA Tech WABAG, stated that the order highlights the company’s technological expertise and competitive pricing, allowing them to offer the lowest life-cycle cost of water for Indosol. The new plant will utilize advanced desalination technologies designed for high energy efficiency, supporting Indosol Solar’s 10GW integrated solar manufacturing unit in the region.
Krishnan expressed gratitude to Indosol Solar for trusting WABAG with this significant project.
