Tata Technologies is expecting strong growth in the aerospace sector due to an ongoing supply chain crisis. This crisis has led airlines to refurbish their cabins as they keep planes in service longer. Tata Technologies is working closely with major aircraft manufacturers like Airbus and Boeing, as well as maintenance and repair companies, to speed up processes and get grounded aircraft back in the air.
Aloke Palsikar, the head of aerospace and industrial machinery sales at Tata Technologies, mentioned that the company sees big growth opportunities in the aerospace sector. “We want to become a leading force in aerospace engineering and be the preferred partner for our clients,” he told ET in an interview.
A rise in leisure travel, with more passengers willing to pay extra for larger seats, has pushed airlines to upgrade their cabins with more premium seating. Tata Technologies is working with several global seat manufacturers, offering complete product engineering services from design to installation. Palsikar added that they are involved in every step, from seat design to ensuring proper integration into the aircraft.
The company is also building expertise to support aircraft throughout their entire lifespan, from when they are built to when they are converted into cargo planes at the end of their passenger service life.
Tata Technologies provides services to aircraft manufacturers like designing components for building aircraft, supporting maintenance and certification when planes are sold to airlines, and offering engineering solutions for converting passenger planes into freighters.
Due to the supply chain crisis, aircraft manufacturers are struggling to meet the growing demand for new planes. Popular models like the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 are sold out until nearly the end of the decade. Tata Technologies is helping these manufacturers increase plant productivity through automation, robotics, and process improvements to address the backlog and boost production.
