Several stocks, including GRP Ltd, Roto Pumps, Wockhardt, Atul Auto, and Nahar Poly Film, reached new 52-week highs on the NSE at 10:09 AM (IST).
The benchmark NSE Nifty index climbed 72 points, reaching 24,082.6, driven by strong buying in major blue-chip stocks.
On the downside, shares of Ortel Communications, Akme Fintrade (India), Reliance Home Finance, Integra Garment, and Paras Petrofils hit new 52-week lows.
Overall, 34 stocks in the Nifty 50 index traded in the green, while 16 stocks were in the red.
Among the top gainers in the Nifty 50 were Wipro, Hero MotoCorp, Grasim Industries, Tech Mahindra, and JSW Steel. Meanwhile, NTPC, Apollo Hospitals, Power Grid, L&T, and Divis Labs were among the top losers.
The BSE Sensex was up by 240.3 points, trading at 79,273.03 at 10:09 AM (IST).
Investors were actively buying stocks in the Fertilisers, Irrigation & Allied Services, Packaging, Rubber, and Sugar sectors, while there was noticeable selling in Beverages – Alcoholic, Airlines, Tobacco, Gas & Petroleum, and Aquaculture sectors.
