Stock Market Recap
On Tuesday, the Sensex and Nifty 50 hit record highs for the third consecutive day. The Sensex closed at 80,716.55, up by 51.69 points (0.06%), and peaked at 80,898.30 during the day. The Nifty 50 closed at 24,613, up by 26.30 points (0.11%), and reached a new high of 24,661.25.
The rally was driven by gains in IT, telecom, and FMCG sectors, along with foreign institutional investor (FII) inflows. Positive cues from Wall Street, where the Dow hit a new high of 40,351.10, also contributed to the optimism. However, the India VIX stayed above 14, indicating concerns about market volatility. Broader markets performed marginally above the baseline, underperforming the benchmarks.
