Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) announced that their General Counsel, Ashok Nambissan, and Chief Financial Officer, Nitin Nadkarni, will retire on August 31, 2024.
Gaurav Banerjee will join as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on or before August 26, 2024, pending regulatory approval. Banerjee is currently the head of content for Hindi entertainment and Disney+ Hotstar at Star India and will succeed NP Singh, who has been MD and CEO of SPNI for the past 10 years.
Nitin Nadkarni
Nitin Nadkarni has been with SPNI since 2005, playing a key role in improving the company’s commercial operations through innovative strategies and effective management. NP Singh praised Nadkarni’s financial expertise and commitment, saying his leadership has been crucial in driving sustainable growth for SPNI.
Ashok Nambissan
Ashok Nambissan, who joined SPNI in 2007, has been pivotal in shaping the company’s legal and regulatory framework. He managed corporate relations, legal and regulatory affairs, and standards & practices for SPNI’s operations in India. Nambissan played a major role in significant achievements like renegotiating IPL rights and acquiring Ten Sports.
Singh highlighted Nambissan’s contributions, particularly in major acquisitions and navigating complex legal issues, which have been fundamental to SPNI’s success. Nambissan’s involvement in initiatives such as the joint venture with BBC Earth and the expansion of SonyLIV has also been crucial.
Both Nambissan and Nadkarni’s contributions have been immensely valuable to SPNI, and the company extends its best wishes to them for their future endeavors.
