Samsung Expands Ecosystem: New Foldables, Galaxy Watch7, Watch Ultra, and Galaxy Ring Launched

Samsung has expanded its range of consumer electronics by launching its sixth-generation foldable smartphones and two new smartwatch models. The Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra, along with the Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro, were introduced at Samsung’s second “Unpacked” event of the year, held in Paris.

Additionally, Samsung unveiled a new smart ring called the Galaxy Ring, designed for health enthusiasts, which will be available in India at a later date.

New Foldable Smartphones: Z Flip6 and Z Fold6

Samsung’s latest foldable phones, the Z Flip6 and Z Fold6, maintain their unique form factor while adding more productivity and creative features powered by Samsung’s proprietary generative AI models under the Galaxy AI brand. These phones also include Google’s Gemini language model and assistant app.

The Z Flip6 and Z Fold6 are powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3 chipset, featuring a neural processing unit to handle AI tasks. The phones offer AI-powered features such as real-time language translation, meeting summaries, recording transcriptions, and a writing assistant for emails and social media. The foldable design also allows for innovative features like using both displays for language interpretation.

Both devices are slimmer and lighter than their predecessors, featuring an upgraded dual rail hinge design, an armoured aluminium body, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for added durability.

Galaxy Watch7 and Watch Ultra

Samsung’s new smartwatches run on the latest Google WearOS 5 platform, offering AI-based health tracking and productivity features. They can track over 100 workouts and combine various exercises into one session. The watches include an upgraded BioActive sensor that detects potential signs of sleep apnea and provides real-time readings and alerts for abnormal heart behaviour.

For the first time, the smartwatches can track the body’s metabolism to monitor the biological ageing process using an Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) index.

The Watch Ultra features a durable titanium body and high resistance to extreme weather and altitude, making it ideal for serious health enthusiasts and professionals. It offers in-depth exercise and heart rate tracking.

Galaxy Ring

The minimalist Galaxy Ring packs Samsung’s sensor technology into its smallest form, designed for 24/7 health monitoring. The ring weighs between 2.3-3 grams, depending on the size, and has a durable titanium body. It offers a seven-day battery life and uses built-in sensors to generate sleep and energy scores, promoting health awareness. Users can also control other Samsung Galaxy devices with gestures while wearing the ring.

Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro

Samsung’s new true wireless earbuds are now water and dust resistant. When paired with a supported Samsung smartphone, they offer AI-based features like real-time translation during calls, adaptive active noise cancellation, and enhanced call clarity. The buds feature a new design with white LED lights and can be controlled with gestures. Both models support high-resolution audio through dual amplifiers and improved sound drivers.
