Reliance Jio has made its JioTV+ service available on more smart TVs, allowing JioFiber and Jio AirFiber customers to enjoy the service on several TVs in their homes without needing an extra Set-Top Box (STB).
Customers can now download the JioTV+ app on their smart TVs, meaning they can access the service on multiple TVs with just one Jio connection. Previously, JioTV+ was only accessible through the Jio STB.
Kiran Thomas, President of Reliance Jio Infocomm, explained during the company’s Q2 earnings call that this update enhances the in-home viewing experience. JioTV+ provides a single platform for users to discover and stream content from various OTT services, making it easier to find favorite shows and movies without switching between different apps.
In Q2, the JioTV+ app was made available for free download on leading smart TVs, allowing users to connect multiple TVs under one Jio connection. This offer includes access to over 800 digital TV channels and more than 13 OTT apps. Karan Taurani, Senior Vice President at Elara Capital, noted that this change could significantly increase JioTV+’s user base, thanks to Jio’s extensive content options, which include in-house productions and partnerships with major players like Sony and Zee.
