Neelesh Misra Calls Out Airtel for ‘Harassing’ His Elderly Father Over Late Mother’s Phone Bill

Writer Neelesh Misra has publicly criticised telecom company Airtel for allegedly “harassing” his elderly father with repeated calls about his late mother’s phone bill. On Friday, 23rd August, Misra took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his frustration, saying Airtel has been calling his 86-year-old father every day to clear a phone bill, even though his mother’s phone line was suspended right after she passed away last September.

In his post, Misra explained how upsetting it is for his father to constantly have to explain that his wife is no longer alive. He urged Airtel to update their records to prevent such distressing situations in the future.

“Dear @airtelindia, please stop harassing my 86-year-old father by calling him constantly to pay the phone bill of my mother who passed away last September (her phone service was suspended immediately),” Misra wrote.

Airtel responded to Misra’s post, apologising for the repeated calls and informing him that they have updated their records to ensure no further calls will be made regarding the bill. The company acknowledged the communication gap and expressed their commitment to improving their services.

The post quickly gained attention, with other users on X sharing similar experiences of being “harassed” by Airtel for bills after requesting service disconnections. One user commented on the inefficiency of Airtel’s systems, saying that their customer relationship management (CRM) tools don’t communicate well with other systems, causing delays in disconnections and Do Not Disturb (DND) requests.
