The Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) has announced that trading in its morning session, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, will remain closed today, November 20, 2024, due to the Maharashtra Assembly Elections. However, the evening session will run as usual from 5:00 pm to 11:55 pm (until 9:00 pm for selected agricultural commodities).
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) are also shut for the day. This includes all market segments like equities, derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing (SLB).
MCX Holiday Schedule
MCX has had 14 trading holidays so far in 2024, with the most recent closure on November 15 for Guru Nanak Jayanti. It will remain closed again on December 25, 2024, for Christmas.
Two-Session Trading System
Commodity exchanges like MCX and NCDEX operate in two daily sessions—morning and evening. On some public holidays, only the morning session is closed, while on others, trading is halted for the entire day.
Today, NCDEX, India’s largest agri commodity exchange, will also remain closed.
