Maruti Suzuki India reported a 4% drop in total sales for August, with 1,81,782 units sold compared to 1,89,082 units in the same month last year.
Domestic Sales Decline
Sales of domestic passenger vehicles were down 8%, with 1,43,075 units sold last month compared to 1,56,114 units in August of the previous year.
Segment-wise Sales Performance
- Mini Segment: Sales of mini cars like Alto and S-Presso fell to 10,648 units from 12,209 units a year ago.
- Compact Cars: Sales of compact models such as Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, and Swift dropped 20% to 58,051 units from 72,451 units last year.
- Utility Vehicles: Sales of SUVs and utility vehicles, including Grand Vitara, Brezza, Ertiga, Invicto, Fronx, and XL6, increased to 62,684 units from 58,746 units previously.
- Eeco: Sales of the Eeco were 10,985 units, down from 11,859 units a year ago.
- Light Commercial Vehicles: Sales of the Super Carry were 2,495 units, slightly down from 2,564 units last year.
Export Performance
Maruti Suzuki’s exports increased to 26,003 units from 24,614 units in the same month last year.
