Maruti Suzuki India’s total sales dropped by 2% in May 2024 compared to the same period last year. They sold 1,74,551 units this May, whereas they dispatched 1,78,083 units to dealers in May 2023. Despite this, domestic passenger vehicle sales slightly increased to 1,44,002 units from 1,43,708 units last year.
Sales of smaller cars like Alto and S-Presso decreased from 12,236 units to 9,902 units. Similarly, sales of compact cars like Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S, and WagonR also fell from 71,419 units to 68,206 units.
However, utility vehicles, including models like Brezza, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, S-Cross, and XL6, saw an increase in sales, reaching 54,204 units from 46,243 units last May.
Van sales declined from 12,818 units to 10,960 units, and sales of the light commercial vehicle Super Carry dropped from 2,888 units to 2,692 units this May compared to May 2023.
Maruti Suzuki India’s exports also decreased from 26,477 units to 17,367 units this May compared to the same period last year.
