Mahindra & Mahindra announced on Saturday that its total sales went up by 17% compared to last year, reaching 71,682 units in May. In May 2023, the company had dispatched 61,415 units to its dealers.
The Mumbai-based auto giant saw a significant rise of 31% in domestic passenger vehicle sales, reaching 43,218 units last month compared to 32,886 units in May 2023. Additionally, exports increased by 2% year-on-year, totaling 2,671 units in May compared to 2,616 units in the same month last year.
Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES) also reported a 9% increase in total tractor sales, reaching 37,109 units compared to 34,126 units in the previous year.
According to Hemant Sikka, President of the Farm Equipment Sector at Mahindra & Mahindra, the timely arrival of the southwest monsoon in Kerala and northeast states, along with the forecast of above-normal rainfall, has boosted farmers’ sentiments. This, coupled with the expected timely commencement of land preparation activities for Kharif crops, is likely to drive tractor demand in the upcoming months.
