New Steel Product by JSW for Clean Energy: JSW Steel, the largest steel company in India, has introduced a new product called ‘JSW Magsure’. It’s a special type of steel coated with zinc, magnesium, and aluminum alloys. This steel is very resistant to rust and corrosion, making it perfect for use in places with harsh environments, like in renewable energy projects.
The demand for this type of steel has been growing rapidly, especially in the renewable energy sector. In the past year, around 100,000 tonnes of this steel were needed in India alone. Now, the demand is expected to rise to 250,000 tonnes this year.
JSW Steel plans to produce 145,000 tonnes of JSW Magsure to meet this demand. They aim to supply most of it within India, around 120,000 tonnes, and export the rest, about 25,000 tonnes.
Already, JSW Steel has supplied 5,000 tonnes of this steel to Adani Green Energy, and they’re in talks to supply another 5,000 tonnes in the next few months. They’re also discussing potential deals with other big companies like Reliance Industries and NTPC.
Compared to their other product, JSW Galvalume, JSW Magsure offers even better corrosion resistance. JSW Steel is producing this special steel in their factories in Vijayanagar and Vasind. They’ve invested ₹500 crore in equipment to make this steel and have the capacity to produce up to 900,000 tonnes of it every year.
