India is actively engaged in discussions with Sri Lanka to secure a graphite mine, a vital step in its strategy to ensure a stable supply of critical minerals. Sri Lankan graphite, known for its exceptional purity with over 98% carbon content, is at the center of India’s attention due to its significance in battery manufacturing.
Additionally, India has received an offer from the United Arab Emirates to collaborate on critical mineral procurement. This move underscores India’s broader efforts to forge partnerships globally, with agreements already in place with countries like the Democratic Republic of the Congo for cobalt and copper, Tanzania for niobium and graphite, and South Africa for graphite and titanium.
The inclusion of private entities in these discussions further amplifies India’s pursuit of securing its mineral resources.
