HDFC Bank’s New UPI Alert Changes : No SMS Alert for Transactions Below 100

HDFC Bank has informed its customers through email and SMS about a new rule for SMS alerts on UPI debit and credit transactions. This new rule will start from June 25, 2024.

What’s Changing?

Customers will now only get SMS alerts for transactions above ₹100 (money sent/paid) and ₹500 (money received). However, email alerts will still be sent for all UPI transactions.

Here’s what the email from HDFC Bank said:

  • Starting June 25, 2024:
    • Email Alerts: You will continue to get email alerts for all UPI transactions.
    • SMS Alerts: Only for transactions above ₹100 (money sent/paid) and ₹500 (money received).

How to Register for Email Alerts

  1. Go to this link.
  2. Enter your registered mobile number.
  3. Verify your identity using your date of birth, PAN, or Customer ID and click “Get OTP.”

How to Update Contact Details at an HDFC Bank Branch

  1. Get a common application form for updating contact details from the HDFC website or any branch.
  2. Fill out the form and visit the nearest branch with a photo ID proof.

How to Deactivate Insta Alerts

  1. Log in to NetBanking with your Customer ID and password.
  2. Click on “Insta Alerts” at the top right corner of the page.
  3. Select the account number for which you want to deactivate alerts.
  4. Choose the type of alerts to delete and confirm.

HDFC Bank Charges

  • From January 1, 2022, HDFC Bank charges 20 paise + GST per SMS for InstaAlert SMS service. Email alerts remain free.
  • To modify or unsubscribe, go to NetBanking > InstaAlert Registration or use the MobileBanking App > Your Profile.

SMS Banking

SMS Banking lets you do banking transactions via SMS. Send your query to 7308080808 from your registered mobile number.

How to Register for SMS Banking

  • SMS “Register” followed by the last 4 digits of your customer ID and account number to 7308080808.
