Harsh Goenka Jokes About ‘Kamra’ After Kunal Kamra and Bhavish Aggarwal’s Heated Ola Electric Debate

Harsh Goenka’s Cryptic Post

On October 7, RPG Group Chairman Harsh Goenka made a cryptic post on X, tagging Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal. He humorously mentioned using his Ola e-scooter to travel “from one ‘kamra’ (room) to another,” along with a photo of himself on an Ola bike. The term “kamra” was a playful nod to comedian Kunal Kamra, following a recent spat between Kamra and Aggarwal over issues with Ola’s customer service.

How the Feud Began

The argument started when Kamra posted a photo on X of several Ola electric scooters parked at a service center, suggesting they were in need of repairs. He questioned whether Indian consumers, especially daily wage workers who depend on two-wheelers, deserve such poor service. Kamra wrote, “Do Indian consumers have a voice? Do they deserve this?” and invited others to share their experiences with Ola Electric.

One user called Ola’s service “pathetic,” and Kamra responded by criticizing Aggarwal for not replying to concerns.

Aggarwal’s Response

Aggarwal responded by accusing Kamra of making a “paid tweet” and invited him to join Ola to help improve service. “Since you care so much, Kunal Kamra, come and help us out! I’ll pay you more than what you earned for this tweet or your failed comedy career,” he tweeted.

Kamra denied being paid for the post and challenged Aggarwal to prove his claim. “If you can prove I am paid for the tweet, I’ll delete all social media and sit quietly forever,” he said, adding a clip from his stand-up comedy. He also called Aggarwal an “arrogant, substandard prick.”

Escalation of the Exchange

Aggarwal told Kamra to visit an Ola service center, suggesting he had plenty of work to do there. Kamra urged Aggarwal to offer refunds to customers unhappy with their Ola electric vehicles, especially those purchased in the last four months. “I don’t need your money. People not being able to get to their workplace need your accountability,” Kamra responded.

Aggarwal said that Ola already has programs for customers facing service delays. He challenged Kamra, saying, “If you were genuine, you would have known. Don’t back out now. Come and do some real work instead of armchair criticism.”

Regulatory Issues for Ola Electric

Ola Electric is facing more troubles, as the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) issued a show-cause notice for alleged consumer rights violations, misleading ads, and unfair trade practices. This notice was disclosed in a regulatory filing on October 7, 2024.

Complaints about Ola’s flagship S1 series scooters, including hardware failures and software glitches, have been rampant on social media. The company has also seen a decline in sales, with its market share dropping from over 50% in April to 27% in September.

After debuting on the stock market two months ago, Ola Electric’s shares fell by 8% on Monday, continuing a downward trend amid growing consumer dissatisfaction.
