Delhi Traffic Police and NHAI Team Up to Solve City’s Traffic Jam Issues

Delhi Traffic Police and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) met on Wednesday to discuss ways to reduce traffic jams on the city’s national highways, according to the Times of India.

Special Commissioner Ajay Chaudhary and NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav talked about several ideas, such as widening roads, moving bus stops, and adding speed cameras and warning signs, to help traffic flow better.

To ease congestion, the traffic police suggested widening the road at Kalindi Kunj and moving the bus stop at Mukarba Chowk to Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar. They also proposed installing speed cameras on NH-24 at Kalyanpuri circle and putting up warning signs at Ghazipur toll plaza.

Ajay Chaudhary recommended using traffic marshals and placing proper signs on NH-48 to keep traffic moving smoothly. Other suggestions included adding rumble strips and iron barriers on NH-44 near Mukarba Chowk, putting up signs at Meethapur Chowk, and installing barriers on the Badarpur flyover.

The traffic police requested NHAI to share details of places where construction is causing delays so they can plan alternative routes. They also asked for a subway near Rangpuri traffic lights on the Mahipalpur flyover and an underground tunnel from Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 3 to NH-48 on the Dwarka road.

“There are several areas in Delhi affected by vehicles using the national highways. Proper communication and coordination between Delhi Traffic Police and NHAI are needed to keep traffic flowing smoothly across the city,” said the special commissioner, quoted by TOI. “Working together with other agencies, like the Delhi Transport Corporation and the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, will help reduce road accidents and ease traffic jams in Delhi,” Chaudhary added.

NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav agreed with the suggestions and promised a quick response. This meeting is a positive step towards solving Delhi’s ongoing traffic problems through teamwork and smart planning.
