BharatPe and PhonePe Settle 5-Year Trademark Dispute over ‘Pe’ Suffix

BharatPe and PhonePe announced on Sunday, May 26, that they have settled their long-standing legal disputes over the use of the ‘Pe’ suffix in their trademarks.

In a joint statement, they said, “BharatPe and PhonePe have amicably settled all long-standing trademark disputes.”

The two fintech giants have been in legal battles over this issue for the past five years, across multiple courts.

The statement mentioned, “The settlement will put an end to all open judicial proceedings.”

Both companies have already started withdrawing their opposition against each other in the trademark registry, which will allow them to move forward with the registration of their trademarks.

Additionally, they will take other necessary steps to fulfill the settlement agreement obligations in the Delhi High Court and Bombay High Court cases.
