Bandhan Bank has named Ratan Kumar Kesh as the interim Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective July 10, according to a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange dated July 6. Kesh will serve a three-month term. He has been with the bank as an Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer.
Current MD and CEO Chandra Sekhar Ghosh will step down from his role on July 9. Ghosh, who founded Bandhan Bank, mentioned in a call with analysts that he plans to take on a strategic role at the holding company level, rather than continuing in an operational role at the bank.
Despite the bank’s board approving Ghosh’s reappointment in November 2023, the Reserve Bank of India has not yet cleared it.
Ratan Kumar Kesh brings expertise in operations, technology, and various banking services, including transaction banking and digital transformation.
Bandhan Bank shares saw a slight increase, closing at ₹204.45 on July 8. The bank also launched new trade products aimed at boosting global transaction confidence, emphasizing its commitment to innovation and customer focus, according to Ghosh.
