Ather Energy is set to establish a Rs 2,000 crore electric scooter manufacturing plant in Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC), located in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district. The state government announced this on Wednesday. This new plant aims to produce up to one million vehicles and battery packs each year and will create around 4,000 jobs, according to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Fadnavis shared on social media, “I just had a meeting with Swapnil Jain, the Founder of Ather Energy. I’m pleased to announce that Ather Energy has chosen Maharashtra for its third manufacturing facility at AURIC.”
This decision highlights Maharashtra’s favorable business environment and strong electric vehicle manufacturing policies, which align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for India’s industrial growth. It also demonstrates that Maharashtra is becoming a top choice for investments in automotive innovation, with the Marathwada region expected to drive the state’s growth, Fadnavis added.
The Samruddhi Expressway is enhancing connectivity, making the region more attractive to investors. The Shiv Sena-BJP-NCP government in Maharashtra has faced criticism from the Opposition for not attracting enough investment and losing some significant projects to Gujarat. Assembly elections in Maharashtra are set for October.
