Airtel’s AI System Blocks 154 Million Spam Calls and 8 Million Spam SMS in Just One Month in West Bengal

Bharti Airtel has announced that its new AI-powered system has successfully blocked 154 million spam calls and 8 million spam messages in West Bengal within just a month of its launch. The telecom company said the service is available for free to all customers in the region, and there is no need to download an app or request the service.

AI System to Fight Spam and Scams

As digital connectivity grows, people are facing more scams, frauds, and harmful messages. To address this, Bharti Airtel has introduced an AI-based system that can automatically detect and block suspected spam calls and SMS, said Ayan Sarkar, CEO of Bharti Airtel for West Bengal and Orissa.

How the System Works

The system was created by Airtel’s data scientists and uses a special algorithm to identify and categorize calls and messages as potential spam. While there are many apps from antivirus and security companies to block spam, Airtel’s AI solution offers protection directly at the network level.

An industry analyst pointed out that this network-level spam blocking could be a valuable service for telecom companies, helping them to keep their customers by reducing unwanted calls and messages.
