Adani Teams Up with Thales to Transform Airport Experience for Passengers

Adani Airport Holdings Ltd. (AAHL), the largest private airport operator in India, has teamed up with Thales to enhance airport operations and passenger experiences nationwide.

Thales has already launched its Fly to Gate solution at seven AAHL airports in early 2024, making travel easier for millions of passengers. This system uses facial recognition technology, allowing pre-registered travelers to skip ID checks and boarding passes at different points, which can reduce passenger processing time by up to 30%.

Now, AAHL has given Thales another contract to set up an Airport Operation Control Centre (APOC) solution at all its airports, although the deal’s value hasn’t been revealed.

This cloud-based platform will collect operational data from airport systems and use automation, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence to enhance management, security, and passenger flow. The APOC solution aims to boost efficiency by predicting and addressing resource shortages.

Ashish Saraf, Thales’ Country Director for India, mentioned that these solutions will help streamline airport operations and support India’s ambition to become the world’s largest aviation market by 2047.

Additionally, DigiYatra, a government initiative, is vital in this effort by using facial biometrics for passenger identity verification, aligning with India’s digital future. The seven AAHL airports using this technology are Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mangaluru, and Thiruvananthapuram.
