Adani Cement’s Ambuja Cements is set to invest Rs 1,600 crore in Nawada, Bihar, to build a six-million-tonne cement grinding unit. This is the Adani Group’s first investment in Bihar and the state’s largest in the cement industry.
The project will be completed in three phases. The first phase will see an investment of Rs 1,100 crore, a capacity of 2.4 million tonnes, and is expected to be finished by December 2025.
Pranav Adani, director of Adani Enterprises, said this investment supports the state’s development plans. The Bihar government has helped fast-track permits for this landmark investment.
The land for future expansion is already available, and the additional phases will require less capital. The project will create 250 direct jobs and 1,000 indirect jobs, adding Rs 250 crore to the state’s revenue.
Adani Cements, including Ambuja Cements, ACC, and Sanghi Industries, is India’s second-largest cement producer with a capacity of nearly 79 million tonnes. The company recently acquired Penna Cement Industries, boosting their capacity by 14 million tonnes, and aims for 140 million tonnes by 2028.
The new cement plant will be in Mosama village, Warisaliganj, with good road and rail connections. The Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority has also granted land in Mahbal, Motipur, Muzaffarpur, for another cement unit, pending environmental clearance.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said, “This investment shows Bihar’s growth potential and our commitment to sustainable development for our people.”
