Thiruvananthapuram: Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) plans to invest ₹1,300 crore to expand Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (TRV) by 2027. This announcement was made during the recent TRV Growth Conclave, attended by local leaders, government officials, and travel industry members.

The project, named “Project Anantha,” aims to significantly improve the airport’s facilities. The new terminal will be designed to reflect the style of Kerala’s famous temples, featuring cascading steps and terraced levels.

Currently, the airport spans 45,000 square meters and serves about 3.2 million passengers each year. Once the expansion is complete, the terminal’s size will increase to 165,000 square meters, allowing it to accommodate nearly 12 million passengers annually.

Construction is expected to start this financial year and be completed by 2027. The new terminal will include a plaza, a hotel, and additional administrative areas, along with upgraded parking facilities. Other enhancements will feature a new Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower, an international cargo complex, and remote check-in options, all aimed at creating a modern airport experience.

AAHL took over the management and development of Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in October 2021. The airport, established in 1932, was previously operated by the Airports Authority of India and is the first of four airports in Kerala.
