Raymond Lifestyle to Hire 9,000 Workers as It Plans to Open 900 New Stores

Raymond Lifestyle, an Indian apparel company, is set to hire around 9,000 workers over the next three years as it plans to open 900 new stores, according to Gautam Singhania, the company’s Chairman.

Raymond, which was established in 1925, recently spun off its lifestyle division to streamline its business, attract more investors, and make it easier for the lifestyle division to access funds.

The company plans to hire an average of 10 employees per store but didn’t reveal how many workers are currently employed across its 1,500 existing outlets. Alongside hiring for new stores, the company will also be recruiting for roles in its factories as it aims to increase garment production. This expansion comes at a time when other major clothing manufacturing hubs, such as Bangladesh, face challenges due to political unrest and floods.

Raymond’s clothing business, which supplies apparel to international retailers like J.C. Penney and Macy’s, saw sales of ₹11.39 billion ($135.5 million) last year, representing more than 10% of the group’s total revenue.

Additionally, Singhania mentioned that Raymond Lifestyle is exploring opportunities in India’s fast fashion market, inspired by the success of Tata Group’s Zudio, a brand that has become popular for its affordable clothing, with prices under ₹999 (about $12).
