Upcoming Market Holidays

According to the BSE holiday calendar, there are 16 trading holidays in 2024. So far, markets have been closed 14 times this year, with the last holiday on November 15 for Guru Nanak Jayanti. The next market holiday will be on December 25 for Christmas.

How to Check NSE Market Holidays

  1. Visit the NSE website.
  2. Go to the ‘Resources’ tab on the homepage.
  3. Click on ‘Holidays’ under the ‘Exchange Communication’ section.

Market Recap Before the Break

On Tuesday, Indian indices showed mixed results:

  • Sensex: Closed flat, up by 0.31% (239 points), at 77,578.38.
  • Nifty 50: Rose by 0.28% (64.70 points), ending at 23,518.50.

Despite early gains, the Nifty ended with a red candle on the daily chart. The index has dropped nearly 10% from its September 27 peak of 26,277, entering a correction zone. A further 20% drop would officially place the market in a bearish phase.

FPI Activity

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) continue to withdraw funds from Indian markets. In November’s first half alone, FPIs have pulled out ₹22,420 crore, extending the selling spree from October. This bearish stance has added pressure to the indices, with Nifty struggling to reclaim its 200-day exponential moving average (DEMA) in recent sessions.
