JSW Energy Seals Major 700 MW Solar Deal with NTPC: A Big Step Toward Carbon Neutrality and Renewable Expansion

JSW Renew Energy Thirteen Limited, a part of JSW Energy, has signed a big agreement with NTPC Limited to supply 700 MW of solar power. This deal is for 25 years, with the power being supplied at ₹2.59 per kilowatt-hour (kWh). The solar project will be connected through both Inter-State and State Transmission Utility systems and is expected to be ready by June 2026.

This agreement is a major step for JSW Energy as it continues to grow its renewable energy projects. The company already has a solar power pipeline of 3.2 GW, with 2.0 GW already covered by similar agreements.

JSW Energy’s total power capacity is currently 18.2 GW, including 7.7 GW from projects that are already running and 2.1 GW from projects under construction. These projects include wind, thermal, and hydroelectric power.

Additionally, JSW Energy is working on renewable energy projects with a pipeline of 8.3 GW. The company is also focusing on energy storage with 16.2 GWh of capacity, using battery storage systems and hydro-pumped storage projects. By 2030, they aim to reach 20 GW of total power capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage, with a goal to become carbon neutral by 2050.

JSW Energy is part of the JSW Group, a large Indian business group with operations in steel, energy, infrastructure, cement, and sports. Since starting in 2000 with a thermal power plant in Karnataka, the company has grown to 7,726 MW in generation capacity, spread across thermal, wind, hydro, and solar projects.
