IPO-bound Swiggy Unveils XL EV Fleet for Bulk Orders During Festive Rush, Delivers 3500 Meals in Haryana Election

Swiggy, the food delivery platform preparing for its IPO, has introduced a new service called the Swiggy XL EV fleet for bulk orders. This service uses electric vehicles to handle large orders at once.

After a few weeks of testing, the fleet was officially launched in Gurugram on Saturday, which coincided with the Haryana State Assembly elections. Swiggy’s XL EV fleet successfully delivered 3,500 meals to election officials at more than 580 polling stations in the Gurugram and Badshahpur areas. Swiggy provided this service free of charge to the district administration.

Sidharth Bhakoo, Swiggy’s National Business Head, said that food delivery services help grow India’s food and beverage sector by creating new occasions for people to order, supporting a wider range of food suppliers, and expanding the customer base. He added that launching this service during the festival season is ideal, as it will help with large orders during parties and gatherings.

The Swiggy XL EV fleet service will expand to more cities in the coming weeks. It also includes features like temperature-controlled compartments to keep food fresh and the use of electric vehicles to make deliveries.

Gurugram Deputy Commissioner, Nishant Kumar Yadav, praised Swiggy for supporting the election process, saying it’s great to see a young, homegrown tech company like Swiggy take on such responsibilities.

Swiggy’s IPO

On 26th September, Swiggy submitted revised documents to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to raise funds through an IPO. According to the updated prospectus, Swiggy plans to issue ₹3,750 crore worth of new equity shares and offer 18.52 crore equity shares held by existing shareholders for sale.
