JSW Cement has announced the addition of 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) capacity at its plant in Vijayanagar, Karnataka. This expansion brings the total capacity of the plant to 6 MTPA. The company made this expansion with an investment of ₹461 crore. As a result, the overall installed grinding capacity of JSW Cement has increased to 20.6 MTPA, according to a statement released by the company.
JSW Cement has set an ambitious target of raising its total grinding capacity to 40.85 MTPA in the near future. This will be achieved through both greenfield (new) and brownfield (existing) expansions across different regions in India.
Nilesh Narwekar, the CEO of JSW Cement, expressed the significance of this expansion, stating, “This new capacity at Vijayanagar is a significant step towards increasing our overall capacity to 40.85 MTPA while maintaining our commitment to sustainability. As we keep expanding, our focus will remain on innovative and sustainable manufacturing practices that support the global shift towards a circular economy.”
The company also plans to invest in a series of projects across northern and central India. These investments will include both brownfield and greenfield projects, with proposed units in states such as Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.
JSW Cement’s focus on growth is aligned with its broader strategy to drive sustainable development and adopt eco-friendly manufacturing processes as part of its long-term vision. The expansion at Vijayanagar is a key part of this strategy, further reinforcing the company’s leadership in the cement sector in India.
