JSW Neo Energy, a part of JSW Energy, has secured a 600 MW wind-solar hybrid power project from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL). With this project, JSW Energy’s total power generation capacity has now reached 18.2 GW, which includes 3.8 GW of hybrid power projects.
JSW Neo Energy, a fully owned subsidiary of JSW Energy, received the official Letter of Award (LoA) for this project, which includes 400 MW allocated under a special option from MSEDCL as part of their Phase IV project. The company did not share the financial details of the project.
Currently, JSW Energy operates with a generation capacity of 7.5 GW and expects to increase this to 10 GW by the 2025 financial year. This project is a step forward in JSW’s plan to transition into a company that offers a variety of energy products and services.
The company’s 18.2 GW total capacity includes 7.5 GW that is currently operational, with 2.3 GW under construction in wind, thermal, and hydro power. Additionally, JSW has signed agreements for 8.3 GW of renewable energy projects. It also has 4.2 GWh of energy storage capacity locked in through battery storage and hydro-pumped storage projects.
JSW Energy aims to reach 20 GW of power generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030. The company has set a long-term goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050.
