Market Cap Soars for 8 of India’s Top Companies: Bharti Airtel, Infosys, and TCS Lead Stock Gains

Last week, the market value of eight out of India’s top ten most valuable companies increased significantly, with a combined gain of ₹1,53,019.32 crore. The biggest winners were Bharti Airtel, along with IT giants Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), as they benefited from a strong rally in the equity markets.

BSE Benchmark Index Rises

The BSE benchmark index gained 1,279.56 points, or 1.57%, over the week. On Friday, the BSE Sensex extended its winning streak to nine consecutive sessions, closing 231.16 points higher at a record 82,365.77. Earlier in the day, it reached a record intra-day high of 82,637.03, gaining 502.42 points.

Bharti Airtel, Infosys, and TCS Lead Gains

  • Bharti Airtel: The company’s market valuation soared by ₹47,194.86 crore, reaching a total of ₹9,04,587.12 crore.
  • Infosys: The IT firm saw an increase of ₹33,611.37 crore in its market value, bringing it to ₹8,06,880.50 crore.
  • TCS: Tata Consultancy Services’ market valuation rose by ₹31,784.9 crore, bringing its total to ₹16,46,899.17 crore.

Other Significant Gains

  • ICICI Bank: The bank’s market cap increased by ₹18,734.3 crore, totalling ₹8,66,374.41 crore.
  • Reliance Industries: The most valuable company in India, Reliance Industries saw its market cap rise by ₹13,396.42 crore to ₹20,43,107.10 crore.
  • HDFC Bank: The bank posted a gain of ₹5,600.24 crore in market value, reaching ₹12,44,206.43 crore.
  • LIC: Life Insurance Corporation of India’s market value increased by ₹2,340.25 crore, totalling ₹6,73,390.88 crore.
  • State Bank of India: The bank’s market value saw a modest increase of ₹356.98 crore, reaching ₹7,27,935.97 crore.

Who Were the Losers?

  • Hindustan Unilever: The company’s market valuation dropped by ₹8,411.54 crore, bringing it down to ₹6,52,739.95 crore.
  • ITC: The market value of ITC decreased by ₹4,776.48 crore, totalling ₹6,27,587.76 crore.

Despite these losses, Reliance Industries remains the most valued company, followed by TCS, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Infosys, State Bank of India, LIC, Hindustan Unilever, and ITC.
