GTPL Hathway Plans ₹100 Crore Expansion for HITS Service by 2026

GTPL Hathway, backed by Reliance Industries, will invest ₹100 crore to expand its headend in the sky (HITS) service, aiming to launch in the first quarter of FY26. The service will offer up to 900 TV channels.

After receiving a HITS licence from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, GTPL Hathway will focus on expanding its subscriber base through this service, a senior company official said.

Currently, Hinduja Group’s NXT Digital is the only provider offering both HITS and cable TV services. HITS is a satellite-based platform that combines cable TV and DTH features, delivering TV signals via satellite and optical fiber, unlike DTH, which uses only satellite signals.

“HITS will allow us to compete with DTH and grow in areas without cable service. It will help us expand in rural India and reduce operating costs in urban areas,” the official added.
