Bhavish Aggarwal Slams EV Companies’ Marketing Focus, Urges Tech Investment Over Ads

Ola Electric founder Bhavish Aggarwal criticized electric vehicle (EV) companies for focusing on advertisements to boost sales. He believes that these companies should invest in improving their supply chain and technology instead of spending on marketing.

Focus on Supply Chain and Technology

In a post on X, Aggarwal said, “Some EV companies are making ‘cute’ ads to try and increase their slow sales. Here’s a tip: The EV business is all about supply chain and manufacturing. Use your marketing budget to improve your supply chains and tech to reduce product costs.”

India’s EV Hub in the Making

He also shared pictures of Ola’s automotive future factory and lithium cell gigafactory, calling them “India’s EV Hub in the making.” Aggarwal hinted at significant announcements coming on August 15.

Expansion of Service Centers

Ola has recently opened its 600th service center in Vadodara. In the last three to four months, the company has added 100 new centers. Aggarwal said, “We will keep expanding our service locations across India to stay close to our customers.”

Introduction of Bharat Cell

Aggarwal mentioned that Ola has developed a new lithium cell battery called “Bharat Cell,” which is in the advanced stages of testing. This battery could be a major breakthrough for the Indian electric vehicle market. The Bharat Cell has received certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards, which is required before starting commercial production at the Ola Gigafactory.

Advantages of Bharat Cell

The Bharat Cell is expected to be cheaper, hold five times more energy, and offer better fast charging capabilities. It will be produced at Ola’s large EV hub in Tamil Nadu.
