44 Bids Received in Latest Coal Mine Auction as Government Pushes for Energy Self-Reliance

The government announced that it received 44 bids for 67 coal blocks in the 10th round of commercial coal mine auctions. The bids were submitted in physical form, highlighting strong interest from stakeholders in India’s coal sector.

In June, the coal ministry put these 67 coal mines up for auction. The ministry noted that the number of bids shows continued engagement from various participants, including small and medium-sized companies, which reflects the positive response to reforms in the coal industry.

The online and offline bids will be opened on Monday. The high level of participation in this auction is seen as an important step towards making India more self-reliant in energy. The government’s goal is to boost coal production and ensure a steady supply of coal for different sectors, enhancing energy security and reducing import dependence.

The coal ministry is dedicated to creating a competitive environment in the coal sector, ensuring enough coal resources to meet the growing needs of the economy.
